The ace senior archers of India will be in action from tomorrow in 2nd stage of Tata National Ranking Archery Tournament (NRAT) started on Tuesday at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

The first stage of the event was held in February 2014. The event is divided into three categories i.e. Junior, Sub-Junior and Senior. The sub-junior event is finished whereas the finals for the junior category will be held tomorrow.

In sub-junior Recurve boys’ event, J Jemson Singh beat Atul Verma by 6-2 to win the gold medal. In Recurve Girls Section, Baby Neog of Assam earned the gold by defeating Th.Surmila Devi of Manipur 6-2.

In Compound Sub-Junior boys event, Shivam Kumar (SSCB) defeated Dharmander Sourat of Haryana by mere 3 points. While in Compound girls event Purvarsha Shinde of Andhra Pradesh defeated Sakshi Vedwan of Uttar Pradesh in a tie breaker(135/9 – 135/8) for the gold. 

For the senior category recurve section, all the top most archers like Dola Banerjee, Deepika Kumari, Bombayala Devi, Rimil Buruily, Chekrovolu Swuro, Reena Kumari, V Pranitha, Tarundeep Rai, Jayanta Talukdar, Rahul Banerjee, Atanu Das, Mangal Singh Champia will compete against each other from tomorrow.

In Compound section Abhishek Verma, Rajat Chouhan, Jignas, Ratan Singh, Ritul Chatterjee, Sandeep Kumar, Chinglen Sana, Gagandeep Kaur, Jyothi Surekha, Manjudha Soy, Jayalakshim Sariharikonda, Parveena, P Lily Chanu will participate.

This tournament is registered with World Archery Federation, first time for any national archery event.Team ‘A’ comprising archers ranked 1 to 4 in 2nd NRAT will participate in the 1st Stage Archery World Cup to be held at Shanghai from April 22-27 and Team ‘B’ consisting of archers positioned from 5 to 8 will participate to Medellin for taking part in the 2nd Stage Archery World Cup to be held from May 13-18.
