In the year 2015, the world has witnessed the biggest fight in the history of boxing between Floyd Mayweather of US and Manny Pacquiao of Philippines. But the world is going to witness another blockbuster this year as Indian professional boxer Vijender Singh after winning the Asia Pacific middleweight title challenged the most renowned boxer in  the Great Britain Amir Khan.

No doubt, the bout will add another chapter in the sporting rivalry between India and Pakistan.

Vijender defeated Australian Kerry Hope in New Delhi to win the Asia Pacific middleweight championship.  Though Amir belongs different weight category,  Vijender said, “Why not? This fight is very much possible.”

He further added, “Vijender vs Amir will be the fight of the century. And whether Delhi or Lahore or Karachi, let’s do it. I’m ready for the bout anywhere in the world.”

So now will Vijender lose his weight or will Amir have to gain his weight?

“I don’t mind losing weight but not too much. I will not go down to the 70 kg mark. Maybe till 73 kg. Amir will have to gain some,” Vijender said.

However, finally, all will depend on the promoters who will have the final say to make this bout a reality.

The Pakistani origin British boxer Amir Khan fights in the lightweight category- 63.5 kg while Vijender Singh fights in the 73-76 kgs category.

Amir Khan congratulated Vijender after winning the Asia Pacific middleweight boxing championship  against Kerry Hope but warned Vijender. “Congratulations to @boxervijender on the win. Careful what you wish for the kid,” Khan tweeted.

In reply Vijender Singh said, “Some people drink snake blood, some do other things. This is pro-boxing. It’s alright here. I don’t mind.”

However, keep aside the rivalry of the ring, two are great friends off the ring, they often talk to each other on twitter and pass text message among themselves. Amir also invited Vijender at his home when Vijender was fighting in Bolton.  In April this year, Amir has shown interest to fight with Vijender in India and the latter had accepted the challenge.

Vijender talking about his future  said that his fans could find him towards the end of the year. Currently, he is discussing with his promoters if he can fight for the world title.
