Rio de Janeiro, Aug 13 (IANS) India’s S.S.P. Chawrasia and Anirban Lahiri scored even-par 71 and two-over 73 to finish tied 30th
and joint 51st respectively after the second round of the golf tournament at the Olympic Games here.

Chawrasia, who took his two-day total to 142, showed tremendous fighting spirit after a poor start on Friday that saw him get a bogey on the second hole and a double bogey on the par-four third hole.

However, he fought his way back by birding the next two holes before scoring two consecutive birdies on the eighth and ninth to sit on a
one-under.

But, he bogeyed the 10th and 11th holes to move back to one-over. Later, he bogeyed the penultimate 18th hole to settle for a par-71
the score in the second round.

Lahiri struggled throughout the day as he got bogeys on the fourth and fifth holes before birding the sixth. He again bogeyed the seventh and
the eighth hole to get to three-under.

In the back-nine, he posted a bogey on the 14th hole before getting a birdie on the 16th to move back to three-over. Then another birdie on
the final hole helped him get a two-over 73.

The world No.69 now has a two-day total of five-over 147.

Meanwhile, Marcus Fraser of Australia remained in the lead with a 10-under 132 total as he followed up his eight-under 63 with a two-under 69.

Belgian Thomas Pieters was one stroke behind the Australian after carding a 66, while Sweden’s Henrik Stenson was a further shot back
after a 68 in the second round.

Frenchman Grégory Bourdy and Justin Rose shared the fourth place on six-under 136 total as both of them scored 69 each in the second
