Roger Federer assures that he will return to US Open next year after his defeat against Djokovic in the finals of the US Open.
With age catching up with the Roger Federer, many would have thought that the retirement is around the corner for the Swiss. But the 34-year old doesn’t seem to retire any time soon and still vows to offer a lot.
Federer has been chasing the 18th major for a long time now and Novak Djokovic has been his major hurdle in two occasions this year at Wimbledon and US Open. His quest for the record 18th title will continue next year but whether he can maintain the same form as he did in 2015 is questionable.
“I’ll see you guys next year,” Federer said. “I”m very pleased with where my game”s at. I feel like it”s moving in the right direction.”
The Swiss Maestro then went on to acknowledge that despite losing out in two grand slam finals this year, Federer still managed to have a good year and is pretty happy with what he achieved this season.
“I am playing a good year. I”m playing good tennis,” said Federer. “I am happy with where my level is at. I”m able to be consistent, very consistent.
“Cincinnati obviously was a great feeling beating world number one (Djokovic) and world number two (Andy Murray) in the same week. I don”t think I have done that before.
“Then of course it”s also a disappointment. Lost too many times in finals. But at the same time, I did win my tournaments, the ones I was supposed to.
“Year is not over yet. I usually do have strong finishes to the season, and I hope I can do that again.”
