From last two weeks, Smackdown has been producing less matches and concentrating more on promos. The Smackdown Tag Team division wasn’t anywhere in the picture in these two weeks, whereas Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper was not even shown on this week.
Still, Smackdown is doing a great job. Their viewership increased this week than the previous one in spite of so many flaws.
What is the reason behind this success? It is of course, the main event, ‘the first time ever’ match between AJ Styles and Randy Orton. Indeed this match was amazing. Both wrestlers did a tremendous job in this competition.
This match solely helped Smackdown to get their viewership grown. This week Smackdown was capable of getting of rating of 2.738 million viewers. Last week, SmackDown managed to pull in 2.566 million viewers. This week’s audience for the Tuesday night show increased by almost 7%.
Bu if you decide critically, this week’s Smackdown was comparatively weaker than last week’s show, even this week’s Monday Night Raw was a little better than Smackdown. With the much awaited Kevin Owens – Chris Jericho segment and Undertaker’s appearance, Raw was slightly better.
So what caused Smackdown’s viewership grow? Is it only the match between AJ Styles and Randy Orton. We say, it is indeed the biggest reason behind the viewership increase but there is another reason which helped it; that is John Cena and Nikki Bella appearing in a mixed Tag Team match for the first time in history.
As reported, John Cena and Nikki Bella had been dating since 2012 but they were never seen in a WWE ring before last week. It was the first time these two had a match together so it is obvious. Miz’s promo after the match was pretty cool too.
We hope to see Smackdown’s rating grow week after week.
