Hulk Hogan received $115 million in Gawker sex tape case

According to the reports the wrestling legend, Hulk Hogan (real name Terry Bollea) was awarded $115 million in a lawsuit against Gawker. Hogan has sued Gawker media for releasing a sex tape that involved him and a friend’s wife and the lawsuit previously was of $100 million. The release of the video caused, even more, trouble for Hulk Hogan than most such tapes might because he was heard using racial slurs and talking in a derogatory manner about black people. This was the reason he was removed from WWE alumni list and not only that, WWE had removed each mention associated with him from their website. A Florida jury sided with ex-pro wrestler Hulk Hogan and awarded him $115 million in his sex tape lawsuit against the media.

His hall of fame status was also under question after the incident happened but WWE never released any official statement related to that. The jurors reached the decision Friday evening, less than six hours after they began deliberations. The jury isn’t finished yet as they will return to the court on Monday to declare further punitive damages that must be paid by Gawker media.

Hulk Hogan’s team issued a statement: “We’re exceptionally happy with the verdict. We think it represents a statement as to the public’s disgust with the invasion of privacy disguised as journalism. The verdict says no more.” Hogan himself too tweeted after the decision came down. Eric Bischoff, former WWE manager also reacted after the verdict was declared.

The decision came as a relief for Hogan after his ex-wife Linda Hogan read an open letter where she blames him for single-handedly destroying their 25-year marriage and their family. He betrayed and ruined her trust, love, future, holidays, weddings, their kid’s lives and in short, everything. He also had lost everything in their property and their soul! Hopefully, the verdict will manage to gather his family once again.
