The last episode of WWE Raw emanated from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The night was already hyped up with a triple threat match among Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Samoa Joe. The three contenders for the Universal Championship match were bound to create a ruckus in the show during this bout with the no disqualification tag added to it.

In addition, there was a Miz TV segment with Jason Jordan and a surprise appearance from Brock Lesnar. These were the big segments on the night and arguably can be put in the main event spotlight. However, WWE decided to feature a lackluster storyline between Big Show and Big Cass in the final segment.

This cold feud has been going on between these two for quite a few weeks with the audience not much invested into it. SO, it was quite not understandable as of why WWE would take a decision to put this match on the third hour of the show pre-poning the original main event.

According to the reports from The Dirty Sheets, the creative team wants to focus on each storyline so that the audience gets invested into it on a regular basis. This was the reason why the company emphasized on this angle and put into the main event spotlight, abruptly.

However, this turned out to be a disaster while counting the TV ratings. The attendance via televisions was much lower for this matchup. So, WWE Raw kept on the tradition of getting fewer viewers on the third hour rather comparing the second hour of the show.

This gives another major hint that the company would trim down WWE Raw back to two hours to its original format. Reports suggest that for each of the episodes in 2017, the flagship show got less number of viewers for the final hour. The company is going through a major cost cutting process and hence, this might be a slot that should be addressed to get better results.

Over the past few weeks, WWE stopped using pyros in their shows, canceled numerous shows on the WWE Network and wanted to lower down the traveling costs as much as possible for the same reason. Hopefully, these precautions taken by the company would help them in the future span to be specific within their budget.
