WWE hosted a live event at the iconic Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan, last week. It was the last ever event to take place at that venue since it will be closed forever following WWE’s show. The fans in attendance were able to learn a bigger announcement for WWE’s upcoming schedule.
The reports of WWE returning to the city of Detroit with a PPV in future were there. However, all of the events in that city used to be hosted at the Joe Louis Arena. Considering that it will no longer be available, we could not get any confirmed news regarding the upcoming event until last week.
According to the advertisement on that night, WWE will be hosting the annual Hell in a Cell PPV in the city. The event is scheduled to take place on 8th of October. The Smackdown Live brand will be the organizer of the event consisting of the hellacious structure. Little Caesars Arena in the city will be the replacement for the older venue.
It is to be noted that due to WWE’s schedule for this year around, every post-Summerslam PPV will be swiped around the two brand. This means that the usual Raw PPVs will be hosted by the Smackdown brand and vice-versa. So, we can expect major changes in the upcoming schedule.

This is going to be the ninth consecutive Hell in a Cell PPV in the WWE calendar. The tradition of hosting the PPV based on the structure’s gimmick began in the year 2009. D-Generation X took on The Legacy in a six-man tag team tornado match inside the demonic structure on that night.
Last year, the PPV was hosted in the city of Boston, Massachusetts as part of the Raw-exclusive PPVs. We witnessed the first-ever Women’s Hell in a Cell match on that evening that created history. With the women’s revolution continuing, we should not be surprised to witness something much similar to that.
Before we get to the Hell in a Cell PPV, we have two more PPVs in store, right now. On August 20th, we will get the Summerslam PPV, whereas, on September 24th, Raw will be back hosting the No Mercy PPV.
