This past edition of Smackdown Live, we witnessed a tag team match from the Women’s division. It was Becky Lynch and the Smackdown Women’s Champion, Naomi who teamed up to take on the team of Natalya and the Miss Money in the Bank, Carmella.
The heels were in full control of the match for a better part. But, Carmella decided to tag in herself into the contest which turned out to be a disastrous decision for her team. The champion locked in a submission move to make her tap out. In this process, the heels lost the bout and the babyfaces left the ring with smiles on their faces.
However, the recent reports from cagesideseats.com suggested that things were not much good for Becky Lynch as it was thought. Apparently, the rumor roundups from the source suggested that the ‘straight-fire’ superstar from Smackdown Live might have suffered a serious injury during this match.
It was not clarified as of how and when exactly did it take place. We also did not know whether it’s a cumulative injury from the post or a picked up one on that night. No revelations were also made regarding the extent of the injury so that the superstar might have to stay out of competition for a certain extent.
If this injury turns out to be legit then in the same week, two marquee names from the female roster will fall victim to injury which is not a good news for the company. However, until and unless we are getting a confirmation regarding this scenario, we can’t be assured of the injury.
Following this week’s Raw, Bryan Alvarez from Wrestling Observer Newsletter has given updates stating that Bayley has suffered an injury during her match with Nia Jax. Later, WWE.com confirmed that Bayley has ruptured her shoulder, indeed putting the Women’s championship match at Summerslam in jeopardy.
Becky Lynch is still not scheduled to feature in a match at Summerslam which might give some reliefs to the creative. With the championship match being intact on the PPV and the planning of Carmella cashing in her briefcase, the Irish Lass-Kicker might have to be out of the card, anyway.
