In the men’s singles, K Srikanth progressed into the quarter-finals of the tournament while Guru Sai Dutt lost in the third round.
K Srikanth defeated Qiao B of China in the third round of the Indonesian Open Grand Prix Gold event earlier today. It was a dominating performance by Srikanth who outplayed his opponent and never gave a chance to the Chinese opponent.
In the first game, K Srikanth began off to a positive start as he dominated the Chinese opponent. At the interval, Srikanth led 11-5. After the interval, K Srikanth continued to dominate and never gave the Chinese opponent a chance to come back into the match and won the first set 21-12.
In the second game, K Srikanth was aggressive with his badminton and continued in the same way like he did in the first set. He played some excellent smashes and never gave the Chinese opponent a chance to come back into the match. At the interval, K Srikanth led 11-8. After the interval, Srikanth continued to dominate and won the second set 21-15 easily to progress into the quarter-finals.
Guru Sai Dutt took on Zainuddin of Malaysia. In the first game, the Malaysian player started off aggressively and put pressure on Guru Sai Dutt. At the interval, Zainduddin led 11-8. After the interval, the Malaysian player continued his dominance and won the first set 21-14. In the second set, Guru Sai Dutt made an excellent comeback by winning points at a stretch. At the interval, Guru Sai Dutt led 11-9. After the interval, Guru Sai Dutt continued his domination and won the second set 21-17. In the third and deciding the Malaysian player attacked the Indian player more and never gave Guru Sai Dutt a chance. At the interval, Zain was leading 11-7. After the interval, Zain played aggressively and won the third set 21-15 knocking Guru Sai Dutt out of the tournament.
