Comeback Hero Yuvraj Singh Powers India Home in First T-20 against Australia
In one of the high scoring encounters, India emerged home to win the T-20 match against the Aussies by 6 wickets and 2 balls to spare. Thanks to the brilliant 77* of 35 from Yuvraj Singh, India chased down a total of 202 runs in 19.4 overs to claim the trophy of the one match series.
Indian run chase had every bit of a Indian movie climax scene. There were moments to panic before the hero in the form of Yuvraj Singh came in for the rescue. He scored his highest T-20 score of 77* and what a time to play that innings. His comeback to the side has been made perfect and this will do a world of good to the Indian side in the days to come. He looked much fitter and played his natural shorts. His arms had the brutal force which it was known for and his shots were top notch. And to add to these, he kept a price tag on his wicket and played sensibly to the very end.
Shikhar Dhawan gave India the much needed start. He scored 32 of 19 and hammered all the bowlers. His consistency at the top of the innings and Raina’s form in the middle over will solidify the already strong Indian batting line up. Virat got his start but failed to make it count as he fell for 29(22). Dhoni made sure that there were no hiccups towards the end and played second fiddle to Yuvraj who was on fire on the other end. Yuvraj scored 5 sixes and 8 fours in his unbeaten knock.
James Faulkner and Clint McKay bowled well in the beginning before the storm of Yuvraj destroyed their bowling figures. It was a death trap for the bowlers as the pitch offered nothing to them.
Australia set up a daunting target of 202 for the Indians to chase after they were put into bat by MS Dhoni. The pitch was a belter of a track offering nothing to the bowlers. Aaron Flinch made most of the dead pitch condition as he stormed a 52 ball 89 which included 14 hits to the fence and one over it. He was supported by Nic Maddison who scored a quick fire 34 of 16. Both the opener provided a superb start before Nic was castled by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Shane Watson and Bailey didn’t stay long in the crease but Glen Maxwell 27(13) provided the much needed flair towards the end as the Aussies raced to a huge total.
Vinay kumar was the pick of the bowler for the Indians as he picked 3 for 26 in four overs. Bhuvaneshwar kumar proved the vital breakthrough whenever needed and returned with a figure of 3/35 in his four overs. Ashwin had a forgettable day today as his two overs were carted for 40 runs.
