Want to be a professional cricketer?
It’s always hard to say goodbye to the things you have passionately done for years. But hanging upon them unnecessarily can be a loss for you. Similarly, a sportsperson, who has worked hard for years to play for his country, has to leave the game either because of his fitness issues or some other reasons.
Well, sometimes players take a lot of time to accept the fact that its time for them to bid adieu to the game. Presently, there are players in the game of cricket for whom it’s time to retire from game but they are delaying it.
Thus, here we have discussed five players who are unnecessarily continuing their international cricket careers and they should step in the second innings of life. Let’s take a look.
Five Players Who Are Unnecessarily Extending Their International Careers:
5. Shoaib Malik:
Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has been postponing his retirement for a long time. He had already taken retirement from the longest format of cricket in 2015 after playing his last match against England. After three years, playing his last Cricket World Cup 2019, he announced the retirement from one-dayers.
After this, Malik also lost his place from the T20I squad of the Pakistan team. Meantime, he recently stated that he is interested to play the shortest format.
Currently, Malik is playing in the Pakistan Super League but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) no longer gives him more opportunities. Seeing his fitness and age, the 38-year old player should retire from the game to make the place for other youngsters.
