ICC World Cup 2019: India Will Enter As Title Favourites – Shikhar Dhawan
It is obvious that the prediction scenarios will take the boost whenever a major event takes place in the game of cricket. With ICC World Cup 2019 around the corner, the experts picked their favourites for the upcoming grand event. Meanwhile, the latest to join the bandwagon is India’s stylish southpaw Shikhar Dhawan.
So far, the Indian National Cricket Team and the hosts England were thought to be the strong contenders of the ICC World Cup 2019. However, all the teams boosted themselves with fine talents in their ranks to make it really tough to predict.
India has a perfect blend of youth and experience – Shikhar Dhawan
Speaking of the same, Dhawan quoted that the Indian team will enter into the tournament as favourites to win the cup. He believes that the team got required combination in their lineup to make things fall in place.
“The Indian team has a perfect blend of experience and youth. I have done well in ICC events and this year will be no different,” Dhawan told India Today’s, Boria Majumdar.
The tournament begins from May 30 and will be played in England and Wales. While India will be looking for their third title – after success in 1983 (under Kapil Dev’s captaincy) and 2011 (under Mahendra Singh Dhoni); England is hoping to pick up their first silverware.
Of late, the Indian National Cricket Team is performing exceptionally in all conditions. They have got the best batting lineup, which is equally being backed up by the bowling department. The area for improvement is pretty low, which would certainly put them on top of the chart.
On the other hand, the England and Wales Cricket Board got a settled squad in the ODI format with all the departments being covered with the eligible players. The home conditions will also put them as one of the favourites to win the tournament.
Besides England and India, South Africa and New Zealand also got the great chances to bag the trophy. In fact, the teams like Pakistan and Windies can also surprise any opposition on their day to seal the trophy.
The defending champions, who aren’t at their best in the recent past will also look solid for the grand event when David Warner and Steven Smith walks back into the side. All in all, it is going to be an interesting grand event.
