India Would Be Silly If They Didn’t Pick Dinesh Karthik For ICC World Cup 2019 – Jacques Kallis
Well, Dinesh Karthik is one of those players, who are worried about the selection for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Currently, the Indian National Cricket Team is concerned about the backup wicketkeeper for Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the grand event in England and Wales. Meanwhile, the former South Africa player Jacques Kallis believes Karthik would do the job for India.
The potential candidates to be the backup option for MS Dhoni are Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant. A section of people gave their support to the Delhi lad while the other section of people voted for Dinesh Karthik, who can turn the tables under pressure.
I would Pick Dinesh Karthik for his experience – Jacques Kallis
In between, Jacques Kallis makes his voice on the world cup selection. Kallis believes that Dinesh Karthik can win matches for the team under pressure. Further, he went on to add saying that the selection in the World Cup will also aid the Indian National Cricket Team’s problems in the middle-order.
He believes that Dinesh Karthik can strike the ball at a good strike rate, which is crucial in the middle overs. Further, Kallis concluded that India would be silly if they lose a player like Dinesh Karthik for such a grand event.
“I would pick DK for his experience, in the World Cup you need experience. He knows how to play situations and he can control the middle-order and bat at a good rate. Not too many dot balls and India would be silly if they didn’t pick him,” he said.
Andre Russell is an asset for the coach:
Speaking of the hero of Kolkata Knight Riders in the tournament, Jacques Kallis quoted that Russell matured a lot with his game and became a force to reckon with. He believes that Andre Russell is going to become a big thing in the game of cricket.
“Russell has been really good. He has come up leaps and bounds in the last year. Andre has learnt a lot about his own game and the nice thing is that he can now play different situations a lot better. He wants to do well and is hungry to do well and that is an asset for the coach. Other guys want to emulate him,” Kallis pointed out.
All in all, it would be an interesting world cup selection with a lot of players available in the ranks. There is a stiff competition between Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik for the second wicketkeeper option. However, selectors might also leave both of them, as KL Rahul is in the side. The squad will be announced on April 15th.
