Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) square off against each other in the virtual quarter-final where the stakes are high at the historic Eden Garden on May 23 (Wednesday).

Meanwhile, KKR unit has not only beaten the Royals twice this season but are also on a three-match winning run that helped them finish third in the Indian Premier League’s (IPL)points table.

KKR also have more experience when it comes to handling the pressure of playing in the knockout phase. Apart from making the playoffs for the sixth time, KKR are two-time champions.

Dinesh Karthik-led unit has played well as a team and will be keen to put their acts together once again. The batsmen have provided good starts with the ploy of sending Sunil Narine sending at the top working well.

The middle-order have also chipped in when and where required the team was in utmost need, however, their bowling needs to step up to the occasion. They need to contain runs in the middle overs and try to contain the Royals within a low score.

Chris Lynn:

The swashbuckling opener from Australia Chris Lynn has shown some hint of a return to form in the last game. He is capable of playing the long handle and the dugout will want a superlative effort from him against the Royals.

Lynn will be crucial to the Knight Riders’ success in the playoffs.

Sunil Narine:

Surine Narine has been a consistent performer for the Knight Riders throughout this season.

Well, the ploy of sending the Windies all-rounder at the top has eventually helped the team’s cause.

However, Kolkata will want him to deliver with the ball as well to restrict the Royals to a modest total.

Robin Uthappa:

Robin Uthappa is the mainstay in that Kolkata’s batting unit. He holds the key while batting at an important position of one drop.

He will have to take the onus on himself if Kolkata have to defeat an in-form Rajasthan unit.

Nitish Rana:

Rana has scored runs in almost all the games in the middle-order set-up. He will look to continue his form and contribute to Kolkata’s success.

Dinesh Karthik has changed as a cricketer since taking over the captaincy role. He is batting responsibly and taking risk according to the situation.

Karthik ability to pace the game according to the situation has set him apart from the rest.

Andre Russell:

Over the past few years, Andre Russell has been an integral part of the Kolkata side. His all-round ability sets him apart in this format of the game.

Russell, who has already shown good form in the league will be keen to make his performance count in the dying stages of the tournament.

Shubman Gill:

The young gun Shubman Gill will be high on confidence after a string of good knocks.

Batting lower down the order, he has contributed with useful scores. However, it is a learning curve for the rising star and he will only grow from here.

Mitchell Johnson:

Although Mitchell Johnson didn’t have the best of time so far, KKR will bank on him to provide early wickets in this knock-out encounter.

Johnson will be keen to justify his selection and contribute to team’s success.

Piyush Chawla:

The veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla has come good for the Kolkata side time and again. With five wickets from six games, he is giving a hint of a return to form.

Chawla will be crucial to Kolkata’s success against Royals at home.

Prasidh Krishna:

Moreover, his job will be to continue this form and do his basics right against the visitors.

Kuldeep Yadav:
