Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Moeen Ali looked in superlative form as he provided the much-needed momentum to his side against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, Bangalore didn’t have a great start after Dinesh Karthik won the toss and opted to bowl first. The visitors lost Parthiv Patel in the fourth over and was staring another collapse. Surprisingly, they promoted young Arshdeep Nath at no three who looked completely out of place. But once Kolkata got rid of Nath, Moeen Ali and Virat Kohli made them pay the price. Moeen, in particular, was the attacker of the two dismissing everything at his disposal. He clocked a strike-rate of over 230 during his 28-ball 66 runs knock. His carnage included five fours and six towering over boundaries as he kept Eden Gardens crowd on their feet.

The 15th over of the tie turned out to be a game-changer for Royal Challengers Bangalore as Moeen Ali took 27 runs off Kuldeep Yadav’s over. The English all-rounder started with a boundary past the long-off fielder and followed with a massive six over the extra-cover fielder. With this powerful heave, Ali brought his half-century – his third IPL fifty.

Furthermore, he had no intention to stop as he hurled Kuldeep for another two sixes and a boundary before getting himself out in an attempt to play another big shot. It was Kuldeep Yadav’s costliest over in the T20s and the young spinner had no clue where to pitch the ball.

Although Moeen Ali went back to the pavilion, Virat Kohli ensured they don’t lose the momentum. He scored a brilliant hundred off 58 deliveries to help his side post 213 for the loss four wickets – bettering their last time score.

They will now only hope their bowlers to come good with Dale Steyn in the ranks and hand them two crucial points.
