Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 39th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. For Kolkata Knight Riders, this is a must-win match to maintain their spot in XI because Kings XI Punjab is standing just behind them to take over.
Here, let’s take a look at KKR playing XI against RCB:
1. Shubman Gill:
Shubman Gill has amassed 311 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 113.91. But he has mostly lost his wicket in powerplays. Virender Sehwag has advised the youngster to be more attacking in the first six overs to set a good base for Kolkata Knight Riders.
2. Rahul Tripathi:
Rahul Tripathi starred in the win for Kolkata Knight Riders against CSK. He batted until the 17th over to put pressure on Chennai Super Kings while the other end kept losing wickets. He amassed 77 runs to take the team to a respectable total.
Also, against Delhi Capitals, he was sent down the order, but then also, he showed his mettle with the bat. If he gives a similar performance through the tournament, KKR will remain in a good position.
3. Nitish Rana:
Nitish Rana comes to the field like a storm but doesn’t stay longer. Being at no.3, the left-hand batsman needs to set up a solid partnership to leave Kolkata Knight Riders in a good position. He has amassed only 184 runs in nine matches at the strike rate of 134.30. The franchise might expect him to set himself in the field and play a big knock for them.
4. Eoin Morgan (C):
Eoin Morgan has now a crucial role to play for Kolkata Knight Riders as he has been appointed captain in mid-season. He has a huge responsibility to take KKR as a unit forward and amend their mistakes.
5. Dinesh Karthik (c & wk):
Dinesh Karthik has stepped down from the captaincy to focus on his batting. Kolkata Knight Riders will expect him to get good runs from the bat although he has scored 141 runs in nine matches at the strike rate of 139.60.
6. Andre Russell:
Although the allrounder is injured, he has been regularly playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he is having a rough patch with the bat. Andre Russell has only scored 92 runs in nine matches while has picked six wickets. The Windies is having a tough season.
7. Pat Cummins:
Pat Cummins has not performed par to his class. He has picked up only three wickets in nine matches while also being expensive. The fast bowler needs to justify the price tag he was bought in the IPL 2020 auction although he has given outstanding performance with his bat.
8. Shivam Mavi:
Shivam Mavi has impressed everyone with his pace. In seven matches, he has picked up seven wickets at the economy rate of 8.95. Mavi is likely to get the spot in the playing XI although Prasidh Krishna is also in the race.
9. Kuldeep Yadav:
After missing a couple of matches, he was back in the team in the last match against SRH. In his three overs, he leaked only eighteen runs but didn’t pick the wicket. He will retain his place in the playing XI against RCB.
10. Lockie Ferguson:
Lockie Ferguson starred for KKR in the last match against SRH. He bowled four economical overs while picked up three wickets. Moreover, in the super over, he only conceded three runs and guided KKR to victory. He is surely going to play coming matches for KKR.
11. Varun Chakravarthy:
Varun Chakravarthy is the trump card of captain Eoin Morgan. The mystery spinner is not easy to read, and batsmen have struggled to face him. Varun bowls tight spells in middle-overs while also gives much-needed breakthroughs to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
