Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to score a huge total of in their 20 overs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on super Sunday. RCB got off to a poor start as they were, at one stage, 40/3 in the ninth over, but then the duo of AB de Villiers and Yuvraj Singh formed a partnership of 132 runs for the fourth wicket to propel them to 190/5.
For RCB, Yuvraj Singh was the top scorer with a blistering innings of 83 off just 38 balls, while AB de Villiers smashed 58 runs off 32 balls.
For RR, Kane Richardson was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Praveen Tambe. Tewatia and James Faulner took a wicket each.
Earlier at the toss, and in search of their first win in six games, Virat Kohli took a bold decision to bat first against Rajasthan Royals. Bold because RCB loves chasing the score at m Chinnaswamy stadium and they have almost always chosen to chase at this venue. In fact, this season, before tonight’s match, Kohli had won six tosses and on each occasion, he had chosen to bowl first. Meanhwile, Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Watson said he would have bowled anyway and thanked Virat Kohli for letting it happen.
On to the team news now where Royal Challengers Bangalore kept Yuvraj Singh, in spite a poor form with the bat which saw him make 144 runs in eight innings at a strike-rate of just 102.12. Bangalore, however, did gave an IPL debut to India U-19 captain Vijay Zol and brought back Ashok Dinda in place of Harshal Patel, who conceded 56 runs in three overs against Kings XI Punjab as Maxwell took him to cleaners in previous match. Sachin Rana was the other man to make way to the bench.
Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, made one change to their side as they brought in Rahul Tewatia in place of Dhawal Kulkarni. Tewatia is playing his second game of the season.
