India started their post-world cup season with a victory facing West Indies. It was a convincing victory, which the Indian National Cricket Team will take it with both hands, as it was earned by the bowling section of the team in the shorter format. Meanwhile, the Indian spinner Amit Mishra gives a special mention to Navdeep Saini for his brilliance.

Navdeep Saini could not have asked for a better India debut as the lanky pacer picked up 2 big wickets in his very first over. The 26-year-old, who has the ability to clock 150 kph at will, was hit for a six in the very second ball of his international career by Nicholas Pooran but Saini struck back by removing the big-hitting West Indies batsman.

Navdeep Saini gave the Indian team an initial advantage by bagging two wickets in two balls. He was also miser with the ball for Windies, which saw Windies being restricted for low score in all the games. He already acquired quite a few stats under his kitty.

Team India needs more players like Navdeep Saini – Amit Mishra

The Leg-spinner Amit Mishra on Tuesday said India need to properly groom a talent like fast bowler Navdeep Saini. Making his debut, the 26-year-old Saini starred in India’s four-wicket win over West Indies in the first T20 in Florida by picking up three wickets for 17 runs.

“Navdeep Saini is a great talent. He needs to be groomed properly. He is performing well for the past one year in and has also been consistent in the IPL. He has grabbed the opportunity he has been given,” Mishra told reporters on the sidelines of a promotional event of Airtel Delhi Half Marathon.

“Indian team right now doesn’t lack in any department. Spinners, fast bowlers are doing well. The middle-order is also performing,” Mishra said. There are a lot of youngsters in the team they will gain experience once they play. I don’t think we will face any problems in the long run. The little problems that we are facing are because they don’t have the experience.”

All in all, it was a brilliant debut for Navdeep Saini, who finished with the man of the match award.  After strong performances in the T20I format, he would be eyeing to deliver in ODI format as well.
