The legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is keenly observing the ongoing Test series England vs West Indies in England. On the day one of the second Test at Old Trafford (Manchester), Tendulkar gave his view on the game by adding his experience at the venue.

After the delayed start due to the rain, West Indies Test captain Jason Holder decided to field first after winning the toss. Just before the lunch of the day, Holder introduced the off-spinner Roston Chase. Sachin Tendulkar called that it was a smart move to bring a spinner when a few deliveries of the pacers didn’t even carry to the wicket-keeper.

Tendulkar tweeted, “In the 1st session I noticed a few balls didn’t even carry to the keeper off fast bowlers indicating a lot of dampness in the pitch. Smart move by @Jaseholder98 to bring on a spinner on such a track where the oddball may grip and the other may go straight. #ENGvWI”

In his very first over of the match, Chase dismissed the English opener, Rory Burns, after successfully trapped him lbw. That wicket was also the last action in that session. On the very first delivery of the second session, Chase dismissed Zak Crawley for a golden duck as the new batsman was caught out at the leg slip by Holder. The next ball was a hat-trick ball for Chase, and the English Test captain Joe Root survived that delivery.

A lot will depend on how the teams play the new ball: Sachin Tendulkar

When the opener Dom Sibley and skipper Joe Root was building up a partnership, Tendulkar came with another tweet where he claimed that the new ball would be crucial in this Test match.

Tendulkar wrote, “.@root66 & @DomSibley in a crucial partnership for England. WI needs to find a way to get breakthroughs while the ball is fairly new. Old Trafford is a hard surface when it dries out hence the ball will become soft. A lot will depend on how the teams play the new ball. #ENGvWI”

After the 52 runs partnership for the third wicket, Root (23) was dismissed by the Caribbean pacer Alzarri Joseph. However, the opener Sibley continued his patience batting along with the Test vice-captain Ben Stokes till the end of the day. While England ended the day on 207/3, Sibley remained not out on 86 runs and Stokes was batting on 59 runs, and also they already built up the 126 runs partnership for the unbroken fourth wicket.
