Tillakaratne Dilshan becomes the eleventh batsman in the history of ODIs to score 10,000 ODI runs. The Sri Lankan opener achieved this feat during the ongoing fifth ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Hambantota when he took a single off Shoaib Malik. With this, Dilshan becomes the eleventh batsman and fourth Sri Lankan after Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara to reach the milestone. Dilshan has so far scored 10007 runs from 319 matches with an average of just over 39.

Indian trio of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid along with Australia’s Ricky Ponting, Pakistan’s Inzamam-ul-Haq West Indies’ Brian Lara and South Africa’s Jacques Kallis are the other batsmen to cross the 10000 run mark in ODIs.
