Virat Kohli once again starred with the bat for India, scoring a sublime century to help the visitors recover from a disastrous start in the second Test against Australia. The India skipper scored his 25th Test ton on day three to bail India out of trouble. It was his seventh against Australia and sixth Down Under.

The century also helped Virat Kohli to surpass Sachin Tendulkar and become the fastest Indian to 25 Test tons. The legendary Sir Don Bradman is the only one who is ahead of Kohli. The right-handed batsman came to crease when India were in deep trouble. Replying to Australia’s 326, India lost both their openers – Murali Vijay and KL Rahul – for just 8 runs on the board. Kohli then led India’s fightback, scoring 81 on day two as India recovered to end the day on 172 for 3.
The world’s top-ranked Test batsman needed just 18 runs to score his fifth Test ton of the year and he took five overs to reach five more overs to reach the milestone. It also ended his mini-draught against Australia. Before his latest knock, Kohli had not managed to cross the fifty run-mark in the last eight innings against Australia.

Kohli was eventually dismissed for 123. However, his dismissal ended in a controversial manner. The 30-year old edged Pat Cummins to Peter Handscomb at second slip, who just managed to scoop his fingers under the ball to hold onto a low catch. Kohli was confident that the ball did not carry but Handscomb was adamant. The replays were not very conclusive but the third umpire gave his decision in the bowler’s favour as the soft signal was out, much to Kohli’s disappointment.
Virat Kohli was given OUT but was it a clean catch? 🤔🤔🤔#FoxCricket #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/SAIv1kkX6N

Meanwhile, Twitter was quick to react its anger on the controversial catch. Here are some of the reactions:
I know there will be a lot of debate on the Kohli dismissal but it is critical to note that the law says there must be conclusive evidence to overturn the on-field umpire's decision. Kohli thought it bounced but historically those have been given out (more)

The bottom line is that technology in such matters is inconclusive and will always be inconclusive because we are seeing a 3 dimensional event in 2 dimensions. And so the verdict tend to go with the on-field umpire.

Regardless of what you think of that decision, @patcummins30 richly deserved @imVkohli wicket! Australia made a point of that matchup! #AusvInd

Virat Kohli @imVkohli was given out wrongly. There was no conclusive evidence. The batsman should have been given the benefit of doubt. #INDvAUS #PerthTest

Was Kohli caught by Handscomb?
Katich: "To me it looked like he had his fingers wrapped underneath the ball. They seemed really confident from the moment. The soft signal from all reports was out."

Can't really understand why there is a soft signal for referrals. The point you go up itself is that you are not sure… #Kohli #INDvAUS

In this world of technology and DRS, how can this be given as OUT? Very unfair end to an excellent inning by Virat Kohli. #INDvAUS #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/MGX4acjKEW
