One of Australia’s greatest-ever batsman, Steve Smith, has recently lavished praise on his arch-rival and the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. Smith and Virat have been two of the most iconic batsmen the world of cricket has ever seen. It is almost impossible to stop them, and every bowling line-up in the world fears to face them.

Both have had an impeccable record as batsmen and have been setting new milestones in every game that they play. They are a part of the fab-four in world cricket at the moment. It has led to comparisons being drawn between them on numerous occasions.

Now, Steve Smith has heaped praise on the Indian skipper and said that he is a terrific guy and has grown immensely over the years.

Steve Smith Lavishes Praise On Virat Kohli

“I have known Virat Kohli for a long time. Since 2007, I reckon, when he went up to the academy in Brisbane. I actually wasn’t a part of in-take then, but I was kind of up there, doing bowling and stuff,” the Aussie said in Star Sports’ Cricket Connected chat show on Saturday.

He was there, we had some nice chats off the field. We had a couple of run-ins in the early days on the field. Those things happen when you are playing for your team and your emotions sometimes go out of control,” Smith further added.

“But he’s a terrific guy, he’s done terrific things with India. As an ambassador of the game. He’s getting better and better with each game, which is the scary thing,” the batsman added.

Virat Kohli Has Emerged As A Champion Batsman

In the last couple of years, Virat has emerged as the undisputed champion due to Smith’s ban after the Sandpapergate scandal. Still, Smith’s return has been magnificent, and he announced it in style during the 2019 Ashes.

Kohli is now eighth on the list of the most runs scored by a batsman in international cricket. The Delhi-based star has a very long career ahead and the kind of form that he has been in, it seems a considerable possibility that Virat Kohli will lead this chart too.
