The quote ‘fortune favour the brave’ will be savoured by MS Dhoni after today’s match between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The former India skipper has been in fine form in the series, scoring two fifties in the first two games. And he went on to score another in the ongoing game. However, things could have been much different had Australia fielders been a bit more attentive and appealed for a caught behind.
The incident occurred on the fifth ball of the 29th over bowled by Peter Siddle. In an order to accelerate the run-rate, Dhoni decided to go for a big shot and came charging down the track. However, he failed to connect with the incoming delivery or that is what the Australian fielders thought. The ball sneaked past between bat and pad before Alex Carey caught the ball with a superb diving effort towards his left. But the Aussies would have soon cursed their luck when they saw that the HotSpot had a nick on the inside edge.
Dhoni then added further salt to Australia’s wounds by going on to score his fifty as he keeps India on track to chase down 230.
Here is a clip of that incident:

India, meanwhile, are eyeing their first ever bilateral ODI-series win in Australia. The tour has been a historic one for the visitors. They started their Australia tour by drawing the T20I series 1-1 before winning a historic Test series. The hosts bounced back by winning the first ODI before India won the second to level the series. A win in the ongoing game will be the perfect end to India’s memorable stay in Australia.
After this game, India will fly to New Zealand for the limited-overs tour that consists of five ODIs and three T20Is.
