Arsenal target and Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin have confirmed that he move away from Saints this summer to join only a Champions League club. The midfielder has been heavily linked with Arsenal over the last 18 months as Arsenal came close to signing him last season.
Southampton have manged to hold on to the player last summer despite interest from Arsenal. The player is expected to leave Southampton this summer and has drawn interest from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.
Spurs were confident that they would seal the move for the midfielder but the player have admitted that he will join a Champions League team which makes Arsenal clear favorites to sign the player.
“Yes, I think my decision is made. I learned a lot last season. The goal is to stay in England. It is a championship that I like and where I have a lot of fun. If I leave Southampton, it is for a club that plays better than the Europa League.
“There are ongoing discussions but nothing is done. But of course the Champions League is my goal. If I leave Southampton it will be for a club in the Champions League.
“I have a two-year contract. If a club pays the right amount for me, it will be time to leave.
“The amount? I have no idea but I will not leave for a small price. Southampton is known to be a good seller club, the price should be high enough.”
Southampton reportedly want £25m for the 25-year old midfielder but expects the bid to go up to £30m and Arsenal are ready to activate the release clause of the player this summer.
