Barcelona Commence Pre-Season Training; Ernesto Valverde Misses Core Of The First Team
Barcelona were stunned in the previous season as they were pipped to the league trophy by arch rivals Real Madrid who also won the Champions League trophy, leaving the Catalan giants with just the Copa del Rey to show for in what turned out to be the last season for Luis Enrique at the Camp Nou.
The La Liga giants have already replaced Enrique with Ernesto Valverde and the new manager is now desperate to make the squad better, by adding some top class players to his squad this summer.
However, the Catalan giants are already back in training for the pre-season and through their first game does not start for another week, Valverde will want all his player at his disposal to make sure that he can have everyone playing together for one goal next season.
The new manager will have a tough task in his hands as having previously only managed Spanish side Athletic Bilbao, this could prove to be a huge step up for him in charge of one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

However, the Spaniard does not look fazed and has already started his training at the Camp Nou.
Valverde completes training sessions; still, misses core of the squad
The former Athletic Bilbao manager has reportedly already taken charge of two complete training sessions ahead of the pre-season.
This pre-season at Catalonia will surely be vigorous as Barcelona are expected to leave no stone unturned in their search of silverware next season.
But not everything is going according to plan as Valverde, the new manager is yet to work with the entire squad.
A huge chunk of the first team is currently out on a promotional tour in Japan for the presentation of the agreement with Rakuten, the club’s new shirt sponsors.
The likes of Gerard Pique, Lionel Messi, Neymar and Arda Turan were all present in an event in Japan alongside Rafinha and Gerard Deulofeu, who are both recovering from different ailments

It is also understood that all the players who were off on international duty after the end of the previous season, are still out on a vacation and are no closer to landing in Spain anytime soon.
Youngsters in full-flow
However, Valverde is not taking it too seriously and is taking this time to spend more time on the youngsters in the squad.
The La Masia Academy surely has a couple of players ready for first team action at the Camp Nou with the likes of Palencia, Alena, Cucurella, Marlon and Vitinho all expected to continue training with the Txingurri on Thursday afternoon, at 18.30 CET.
