Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech could be staying with the club despite rumours of Stamford Bridge return, according to his agent. The veteran goalie is being linked with the Blues again after the arrival of Bernd Leno.
However, his agent Viktor Kolar revealed that no potential offer was made for the star player. This means he is more than likely to stay with the Gunners for the upcoming season.
But the situation for goalkeepers could be even more complex heading into the new season. Arsenal now has Leno, Cech and David Ospina in their roster. All the three shot-stoppers have made a name for themselves over the years.
With the arrival of Leno, one of either Cech or Ospina are expected to leave. The duo will see a huge dip in their playing time for the club as Leno could be their number one going into the new season.
The 26-year old German goalie has been one of the finest in Bundesliga over the past couple of seasons.
It is hard to imagine him on the bench and Arsenal could even look up for experienced Cech. The Czech international is one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of Premier League.
All in all, this could mean an end for Ospina at Arsenal, if Cech decides to stay at the club.
Petr Cech Could Still Be In Unai Emery’s Plans:
The new manager could still have Cech in his plans. He had proved himself in the Premier League over the past decade and established himself amongst the greatest in league’s history.
So, it would be tough for Arsenal to let go, Cech, considering his quality and experience.
Even Cech’s agent Kolar downplayed reports suggesting that the veteran would be heading back to Stamford Bridge.
“It is always busy during every transfer window around Petr Cech, as a great Premier League person. However, he maximally focuses on the new season at Arsenal, no specific offer is available,” Kolar told ESPN FC.
Arsenal club is set for a new era with Unai Emery at the helm. The club have started their transfer activity and completed most of their signings. They have had a difficult couple of seasons while not been able to finish inside top four.
In conclusion, but the Gunners are quite optimistic with the new manager and are hopeful to improve their performances this season.
