Hockey: Indian men beat France in First Test of the European Tour
Indians men hockey team beat France 2-0 in the first hockey test of the European tour last night. It was an excellent performance by the team which played its first match under the new coach Roletan Oltmans.
In the first quarter, the Indians played some good hockey and did not allow France to score. Chinglensana Singh scored the opening goal to give India 1-0 lead after which the Indian team defended very well to maintain the lead and went into the second half with a 1-0 lead.
In the second quarter, SV Sunil scored an excellent field goal in the 7th minute to give India 2-0 lead. The Indians played some excellent hockey as they kept on attacking the French defence and ended the second quarter 2-0.
In the 3rd quarter, the Frenchmen came out all guns blazing but the Indian custodian PR Sreejesh kept them at bay with some breath-taking saves. India held on to their lead at the end of third quarter and defended well in the final quarter to seal the match 2-0.
