Indian double trap team wins bronze medal

The Indian men’s double trap team won a bronze medal at the ISSF shotgun World Championships at Lonato, Itlay on Monday. It was their first medal at the World Championship. It was a good performance by the team.

The Indian men’s double trap team consisted of MD Asab, Ankur Mittal and Sangram Dahiyha. The trio had had shot a combined score of 400 to pip hosts Italy who had a total of 398. Great Britain won the gold with a total score of 414 while Russia claimed the silver medal with a total of 406. Asab was the best placed Indian in the individual event as he finished 12th with a score of 135. Mittal finished 16th with a score of 134 while Sangram Dahiya finished 23rd with a total score of 131.

The Indian trio of Sarvesh Pareek, Sandeep Kumar, and Isaiah Rajender Sanam seeded sixth beat Venezuelan team 231-222 in the play-off for the third and fourth position. It was a one-sided match.

In the compound mixed pair event, Indian Pareek and Trisha Deb lost to top-ranked, USA’s Reo Wilde and Lexi Keller 150-156.

The Indian junior men’s double trap team comprising of Jaisal Singh, Shardul Vihan and Ahvar Rizvi finished fourth with a combined score of 372. Italy, Russia and China claimed the first three spots.
