The World's Grandest Squash Championship – New York

Joshna Chinnappa the 13th world ranked and 15th seed squash player won over Egyptian wild card entry player Kanzy El Defrawy to enter the second round, but National Champion Dipika Pallikal world ranked 16 and 13th seed in the tournament lost to another Egyptian Marian Metwally in the first round of the J P Morgan “ The World’s Grandest Squash Championship” in New York on 9 January 2016.

Joshna won the match against Kanzy in a match that extended to five sets at a score of 8-11, 8-11, 11-8, 11-8 and 11-7. Dipika lost her match in three sets by 7-11, 10-12 and 6-11 meekly.

The J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions is proud to have increased the women’s draw size and prize money to be equal to that of the men. The talent, passion and competitive intensity that we are seeing now on the PSA Women’s World Tour is incredibly exciting and compelling. The matches are being played at awe-inspiring Grand Central venue New York.

Joshna meets another Egyptian Omneyaa Kawy in the second round 11 January evening. She is expected to give a tough time for Joshna.

There is no Indian men player eligible to participate in this tournament.
