WWE News: Batista’s New Movie Might Prevent Him From Wrestlemania Appearance
Batista has been a name under speculation to be a part of Wrestlemania 35. It’s no secret that he was gunning for one last stint in the WWE for the last several months. Basically, it would mark a proper end to his future Hall of Famer career. We expected that WWE officials might consider him for so in the absence of some big names on the roster.
But there might be a big bar while arranging a Wrestlemania match for him. As per the current reports, Batista has bagged another movie role to extend his Hollywood career. Variety.com revealed first that The Animal ‘joined the cast of the “Dune” reboot that stars Timothee Chalamet.’ WWE also acknowledged the same with an official statement, later.
Now this film’s shooting process will begin shortly after Royal Rumble goes by. This is the peak season in the WWE where superstars resurface to feature in a storyline. This culminates big matches at the biggest stage of them all. Batista could have been part of a similar angle which now seems unlikely.
Bleedingcool.com gave a further update on the schedule which is as follows, (courtesy sescoops.com)
“This film is targeted to start in February for production. Thus, if that this is still the timeline, it could have an impact on his status for a rumored match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 7thin East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium.”
WWE brought back Batista as part of an Evolution reunion on Smackdown 1000. The group consisting Triple H, Batista, Randy Orton, and Ric Flair, reunited back in October. Triple H had a confrontation with the Hollywood star hinting a potential match at Wrestlemania 35. Dave Bautista himself was eager to compete in this match which could be his last match in the WWE.
But now it seems the filming process of the upcoming movie will stop him from returning to the WWE. This will be a remake from a 1984 movie. Reportedly, it is a “feature adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel about the son of a noble family trying to avenge his father’s death while saving a spice planet that he is entrusted to protect.”
Batista’s name will come only after The Rock in the list of superstars who have made it big to the movie industry from the WWE. Over the years, he has been part of some successful franchise projects. Guardians of the Galaxy is one of them that made him a bonafide Hollywood star. WWE could use him as a major star power during this Wrestlemania season. But they have to scrap the plans in case the mentioned film schedule remains intact.
