Rio de Janeiro, Aug 19 (IANS) India’s Sandeep Kumar finished 35th in the men’s 50km Race Walk event here at the ongoing Rio Olympics on Friday.

The 30-year-old racewalker took four hours, seven minutes and fifty five seconds to complete the distance.

Matej Toth of Slovakia won the gold clocking 3:40:58, while Australian Jared Tallent (3:41:16) took the silver and Evan Dunfee of Canada settled for the bronze with a time of 3:41:38.

The Indian was 26:57 minutes behind the leader of the race at the finish line.

    The IANS was founded by Indian American publisher Gopal Raju as the India Abroad News Service. It was later renamed the Indo-Asian News Service.
