Rio de Janeiro, Aug 12 (IANS) India’s men’s badminton doubles duo of Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy crashed out of the Rio Olympics after going down in straight games 13-21, 15-21 to China’s Chai Biao and Hong Wei here on Friday.

The World No. 21 Indian pair never really looked in the hunt as they lost the first game in just 15 minutes before going down in 17 minutes in the second to the No. 5 Chinese duo at the fourth pavilion in Court No. 2.

Manu and Sumeeth now find themselves out of contention to progress to the next round after losing their second consecutive Group D match.

On Thursday, the Indian duo lost 18-21, 13-21 to Indonesia’s Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in their opening encounter.

The IANS was founded by Indian American publisher Gopal Raju as the India Abroad News Service. It was later renamed the Indo-Asian News Service.
