Jim Ross Recalls Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar From WrestleMania XX
He was one of the biggest names of the promotion during the time. Goldberg on the other hand had an amazing reputation in WCW and after joining WWE, he followed his previous path from WCW. Here he was also presented as an unstoppable force.
Brock Lesnar vs Bill Goldberg was definitely a match made in heaven and it was a dream match for most of the professional wrestling fans during the time. This dream feud finally took place for WrestleMania XX after Brock Lesnar decided to cost Bill the Royal Rumble match. In return, Bill cost Brock Lesnar the WWE championship which he lost to Eddie Guerrero at the No Way Out pay per view event.
The dream match between these two giants got finally booked for WrestleMania XX. But with time it was also came into news that this match is going to be the last match of these two athletes in WWE and they will depart from the promotion after WrestleMania XX.

Fans feared that day might not get the dream match they are actually looking for. And that is exactly what happened. This match turned out to be a disaster. The match that could be one of the best matches in WWE history turned out to be one of the worst WrestleMania matches ever.
None of the two wanted to keep their best for this match, neither the fan got ever hooked with it. It ended when Bill pinned Brock Lesnar. The biggest pop of the match came when the special gift of the maths Stone Cold Steve Austin hit Stunner to both of them.
Jim Ross who is currently working as a colour commentator in the AEW recently spoke on his Grilling JR podcast where he looked back at the infamous Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar match that took place at WrestleMania XX. He said;
“They were dead. The jury had already declared their verdict before the trial had started. We’re done. I felt bad for those guys. I really did. I signed Brock. I helped sign Goldberg. I liked both guys for various reasons.

“They both had a lot of similar characteristics as far as physicality. I’ll tell you that for as good an athlete as Goldberg was, he wasn’t in Lesnar’s league in terms of being a pure athlete.”
“Thank God Austin was there, because those two stunners at the end, one to each guy, was money. It finally gave the guys something to embrace and cheer for.”
“They were making a ton of money, and they didn’t want to be there. What more could I do? Pay them more money to rent their services? Not their heart, not their soul, not their passion, but to rent their services. It was not the time to do that.”
