WWE: What to Expect from this Week’s Smackdown Live: July 3, 2018

Arindam Paul / 03 July 2018

We witnessed a massive shocker during the closure of Smackdown last week.

We witnessed a massive shocker during the closure of Smackdown last week.

A Demon returned from the depths of hell to create a ruckus on the show. A shocker happened to change the scenario of the blue brand entirely. Tonight’s edition will begin on that note to continue the storyline for Team Hell No who has just reunited on the show.

Meanwhile, there will be two huge comebacks as well. Two of the prime champions will return after one week’s absence from Smackdown Live. It should keep things interesting, as we progress towards the most extreme night of the year on July 15th.

Plus, an inter-gender match will be in-store on the show that takes place live at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

It was good to see Kane coming back on Smackdown Live, out of nowhere. Daniel Bryan has now received a monstrous partner to throw a suitable challenge to the Bludgeon Brothers.

The scene on the tag team division was not picking up for a long time. This shocker from the WWE creative team will help the blue brand to keep things interesting.

The WWE Champion, AJ Styles will be back onboard on tonight’s show. He was not present on Smackdown Live last week due to the promotional activities in Australia. Rusev picked up big momentums in his absence picking up a couple of wins. Tonight these two might have a confrontation to heat up the WWE championship picture.

Meanwhile, a big matchup is now official to take place on Smackdown, tonight. The WWE Champion will take on Rusev’s partner, Aiden English in a singles contest. We have surely not forgotten how English insulted AJ two weeks ago. So he might have to pay the due when this match takes place.

Shinsuke Nakamura was unable to compete in his scheduled match on last week’s Smackdown. He is suffering from a leg injury caused by a dog bite. We are yet to learn about his actual in-ring status. So the officials might inform us with that. Also, this gives an opportunity to push back the US title match to the Extreme Rules PPV event. Hardy will continue to issue an open challenge in the absence of Nakamura.

Carmella, Smackdown women’s champion will also come back to the show. She will now have to defend the title against Asuka at Extreme Rules. The GM also announced that Mella’s partner, Ellsworth will have to take on against Asuka in an inter-gender match, tonight. We expect to get a lot of fun in this contest especially keeping Ellsworth’s tactics in mind. It will heat up the title picture in the women’s division.

Smackdown has also made another women’s match official for tonight. Becky Lynch will take on against Peyton Royce of the IIconics. Finally, the New Day will come with a face-off in the First Annual Third of July Pancake Eating Contest.
