India’s form before coming to the World Cup 2015 was poor and pathetic. It was said that India’s bowling will be a cause of concern and batting will be their strength but they have proved wrong and have done an excellent job in the tournament bowling out the opponents taking 70 wickets in 7 matches. India is really playing like a champion.
In the first match against Pakistan India won the toss and elected to bat. Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli played exceptional knocks, while Raina also scored giving India a score of 300. While Chasing Pakistan played well but lost wickets at regular interval and were bowled out for 224. India won the match by 76 runs.
In the second match against South Africa India won the toss and elected to bat again. This time Shikhar Dhawan scored a brilliant a century while Rahane scored a brilliant 76 which allowed India to make 306. While chasing South Africa did not get partnership and were bowled out for 177. India won that match by 130 runs.
In the third match against UAE, Emiratis won the toss and elected to bat. Indian bowlers were special and bowled UAE for paltry total of 102 which India chased easily.
In the fourth match against West Indies, boys from Caribbean won the toss and elected. The Indian fast bowlers bowled brilliantly and did not allow West Indies to score fast. West Indies were bowled out for 182. While Chasing India were struggling at 102 for 5 but Dhoni and Ashwin partnership made sure that India won the match by 4 wickets.
In the fifth match against Ireland, men in green won the toss and elected to bat. They started well but could not convert starts into big scores. Shami picked wickets and Irleand was bowled out for 259. India did the job in perfect manner with Dhawan and Rohit Sharma scoring runs. Shikhar Dhawan scored a century. India won the match by 8 wickets.
In the last league match against Zimbabwe, India won the toss and elected to field. It was a last match for Brendon Taylor and he scored 138 runs. Zimbabwe scored 287. India was struggling at 92 for 4 but Raina and Dhoni ensured that there was no hiccup. India won the match by 6 wickets.
In the quarter finals against Bangladesh, India won the toss and elected to bat. India started off well but lost the wickets of Dhawan, Kohli and Rahane but Raina and Rohit ensured that India got out of trouble. Rohit Sharma scored 137 and India scored 302. Bangladesh innings never got momentum and lost wickets at regular intervals and was bowled out for 195. India won that match by 109 runs.
The next match which is a semi final match against Australia will be a tough fight. With both teams looking in excellent form it promises to be thrilling match.
