IPL 7 has come to a stage where teams know their standings and their chances of making the play offs. There have been many outstanding performances and young players have taken this opportunity to stamp a mark. On the other hand, there have been may disappointing performers. Here is a look at the top 5 disappointments of this year’s IPL.
Chris Gayle : Chris Gayle has been the main trumph card for RCB, but this year he has failed in all departments of the game. He has just managed to score 196 runs in 9 matches at an alarming strike rate of 106.52. He has not managed to even score a half century this year and no wonder why RCB has failed this year. He has been a liability on the field and has been on the wrong side in the running between the wickets.
Amit Mishra: He was the main reason why the Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the Top 4 position last year. He was instrumental with his variations, bowling the flippers and the normal leg spinners. His surprise delivery was the googly, which was very hard to pick and he picked a lot of wickets on it.But , it has been a forgettable season for him. He has just picked up 7 wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of 9.06 . His strike rate has been 32.14, just shows his inability to pick wickets this season.
Md . Shami : He is assumed to be the leader of the Indian pace attack and was bought by the Delhi Daredevils. Kolkata Knightriders were criticised for not using the joker card for him. But, Shami has failed completely in this year’s IPL having picked up just 6 wickets in 11 matches he played. He has given away runs at an economy rate of 8.36 and has a strike rate of around 41. This completely shows why the Daredevils have failed to pick up early wickets.
Murali Vijay : He was the guy who was bought at 5 crores by the Delhi Daredevils. The team management thought of bulding the new team and Vijay had a role to play in it. He has just managed to score 207 runs in 11 matches. Not just that, he has taken up too many deliveries , leaving very few for the likes of Duminy and Jadhav .His strike rate has just been 107.81 .
Corey Anderson: Before the IPL auction started this year, he was supposed to to get the highest bid . He did not , but he was definitely one of the star attractions of this IPL ,leading to the IPl, simply because of his exploits at the International arena. A genuine all rounder who can contribute with both bat and ball, has just managed 150 runs in 10 matches he played at a strike rate of 118.11 . This is very less when compared to to his abilities. With the ball , he has just picked up 4 wickets and the economy rate has been 10.38. He was definitely Mumbai’s weak point.
