Dejected with a series of rejections from the Pakistan team’s squad, left-arm fast bowler Junaid Khan has admitted that he is left with no other choice but to consider playing for England in international cricket. The left-arm pacer was not selected in the ODI squad for the series against Ireland and England and he took to Twitter to express his frustration.

Junaid argued, “I cannot understand on which basis I am out of the team. Is it performance or is it fitness. I’m attending 3rd fitness camp and I am 100% fit my performance and the list of countries whom I have played is in front of you all. I have not been allowed to play league and county cricket.”

Speaking to Dawn News, the 26-year old claimed that he had an opportunity to play for England when he impressed with the ball during the 2013 county season. However, he chose to stay with Pakistan instead.

Junaid lamented, “I have no option but to consider playing for England now. Half of my family resides in England, but I kept Pakistan as my priority. I had the opportunity to play for England in 2013 after my outstanding performances in County cricket, but I rejected it.”

With 71 Test wickets to his name, Junaid is one of the most successful bowlers in Pakistan’s current crop of fast bowlers but was snubbed by the Inzamamul Haq-led selection committee for the probable line-up for England series, with the former skipper saying Junaid has still not gained full match fitness. However, Junaid Khan blasted those claims and said that his participation in the military boot camp proves his fitness.

“I bowled outstanding spells in my last practice game. I returned figures of one for 22 in seven overs. I was told to prove my fitness and I am 100 per cent fit.”
