Rahul Dravid, the coach of India ‘A’ and U-19 side, will not travel with the India U-23 team to Bangladesh, where the team is scheduled to play the ACC Emerging Cup. Instead, Dravid will join the Delhi Daredevils camp, which is scheduled to kick off from March 28 in Delhi.`

It should be noted Dravid’s contract as the coach ends on March 31 and the Emerging Cup will culminate on April 5.

Not only coach, but the junior selection committee hasn’t even selected the players who have an IPL contract. Players like Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan – touted to be the next big players, aren’t a part of the side whereas Shubham Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Dagar, who do not have an IPL contract, have been selected.

There is a provision of including four senior players in the U-23 side but the selectors haven’t named any. Tamil Nadu all-rounder Baba Aprajith lead the side.

The Indian team will go into the tournament as the defending champions as SuryaKumar Yadav led India to victory in 2013 with a win over Pakistan in the final (held in Singapore).
