Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has revealed that the La Liga giants did not try to sign the out-of-favour Colombian forward Radamel Falcao who is currently on loan at Chelsea. Radamel Falcao enjoyed two splendid seasons at Vicente Calderon from 2011 to 2013, but then opted to join French outfit AS Monacco where his start was mediocre.
However, big clubs were on his heel and he joined Manchester United on loam the next season and failed to replicate his talent as he did in Madrid. Currently he is on another loan stint, this time with another Premier League giants Chelsea, where he suffered similar fate.
Despite poor form and a number of injuries, the former Atletico Madrid hitman was reportedly seen in Spain and now the president of the Club has voiced to the question concerning the Colombian’s presence in Spain. But in his words, Atletico did not want to sign him.
“No, If he has been in Madrid, which is something I do not know, he may have come to do other things,” Cerezo told Cadena Ser, a prominent radio station in the country.
It was also assumed by various reports that he failed in the medicals, probably owing the output to his injury and lack of practice.
“I think he is injured, that he is recovering but I have not talked to him for a while. But without question there has not been anything to do with us.”
The 29-year-old has been enduring a tough time in England and it is most possible to continue in the current trend as Alexandro Pato has joined Chelsea on loan which means Falcao will be further down in the pecking order. He has already been dropped out of Chelsea’s squad for UEFA Champions League Pre-quarters. Falcao has not featured for the Club since October, due to a thigh injury.
