According to report from Spanish news source Fichajes, Liverpool are looking to make an increased offer to seal the move for unsettled Liverpool midfielder Asier Illarramendi. The Reds have been tracking the situation of the player for the past year and are looking to complete the transfer in the coming days.
The 25-year old has failed to break into Real Madrid’s first team since his move to Bernabeu two seasons ago. The arrival of Toni Kroos and consistent performances of Luka Modric meant that he has been looked unimportant to the team at times.
The player has not impressed new manager Rafael Benetiz in the pre-season training and is increasingly looking to leave Bernabeu this summer. Liverpool have made a €14m (£10m) bid for the defensively minded midfielder but Real Madrid rejected the offer as they are looking for a higher sum.
The Reds are now ready to make an increased bid of €20m to seal the deal for the midfielder. Brendan Rodgers has been aggressive in this transfer window as he has made six new signings and Christian Benteke is expected to undergo medical in two days time.
The arrival of Asier Illaremndi would surely boost the midfield options for the Reds as they looking for post-Gerrard era next season and clearly wants to fill the void left by the Reds’ legend.
