When it comes to splashing cash, there is not one team in the world right who can meet Manchester United’s abilities and willingness. Louis Van Gaal is desperate to add quality players to his squad to mount a serious title push next season.

There have been several big-names being linked with Manchester United and the most recent one takes Van Gaal to his former player Thomas Muller.

Initially, Bayern Munich have rebuffed any ideas of selling Muller, following which Manchester United’s Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has requested a personal meeting with Bayern Munich’s club director.

According to the trusted SportBild journalist Christian Falk, Manchester United have readied a €160million package spread over the period of 5 years to sign the multi-faceted Bayern Munich forward/midfielder.

This insane figures carries Muller’s transfer fees as well as his salary over the period of 5 years.

Muller joins the likes of Sergio Ramos, Mats Hummels, Nicolas Otamendi, Nicolas Gaitan, Ilkay Gundogan, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Edinson Cavani and Karim Benzema who have been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford but the deal has fallen on it’s face.

One thinks, same would happen with Muller as well especially after the player personally claimed he is very happy in Germany. Without mentioning United’s name, Muller acknowledged the offer put on by the club from Manchester.

Muller said: “When a request comes, automatically you deal with it.

“A request from a big club is an honor and a reward that [the player] is performing well.

“But I feel happy at Bayern, and my contract runs until 2019. There is nothing more to say on these speculations.”

Having said that, due to the large sum involved and Van Gaal’s keenness on bringing Muller to Old Trafford, we could see a different outcome in this transfer saga. For now, Muller will only remain a reported target for Manchester United and nothing else….
