Vadim Vasilyev, Monaco’s vice president has openly stated that the club retains no interest whatsoever in Radamel Falcao’s return to the club over the winter window and has left Chelsea in the lurch as they looked to offload the misfiring striker during this period.
He has been plagued with injuries all across the season and has remained out more than he has been available for selection. This coupled with his embarrassing form makes for a disappointing reading for the once feared Colombian who was nicknamed “El Tigre” for his immense showings with Porto and Atletico Madrid.
“Falcao is currently injured. He has six to eight weeks to go like that. We have decided not to take him back to Monaco for the moment.”
He has scored only a solitary goal for Chelsea against Crystal Palace with a tremendous header in the Premier League over the opening month of the season which had given a reason for optimism around Stamford Bridge but has been disappointing or ruled out ever since.
Such a goal return is something that Monaco definitely want to avoid and hence they have shifted their sights over to Vagner Love who has been at Corinthians and plundered 14 goals the previous season as the team romped their way to the title.
“We are expecting Vagner Love to arrive this week. I hope we can make his signing official soon. It’s a transfer with a contract of 18 months.”
With this transfer, it could be suggested that the curtain on Falcao’s elite career has already been called and he will bow out as an above average player instead of the legend he was destined to be. It is a stern reminder of what an ACL injury can do to a player’s career and much like Fernando Torres before him, it has sapped all the confidence he possessed in a single swipe to his knee.
