UEFA Champions League action is back as the new season kick-off tonight. Premier League giants and league leaders Manchester City host Last season’s runner-up side Juventus FC.
Manchester City has reshaped their side this side bringing in several big names which include Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne in the squad. They now have a world class squad with great bench strength worthy of becoming title challengers in Europe. The Cityzens for long has eyed Champions League triumph and this season they are desperate to prove their worth in the biggest stage. They are already at the top of the league winning every single match. We consider City to be favourites against Juventus in this tie.
The Old Lady is currently struggling at the bottom half of the Italian Serie A as they are yet to win a single game. They are at the 16th position. Juventus saw many important players leaving this season. Andrea Pirlo was the first one to leave the club for MLS. Carlos Tevez joined Boca Juniors and Arturo Vidal was sold to Bayern Munich for a hefty sum. They have brought in talented Argentine striker Pablo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic for a bargain price and Sami Khedira for free. They also got Chelsea flop Juan Cuadrado on loan. It has become an issue for the runner-up side to cope after the departure of so many important players.
Manchester City will be missing the services of star striker Sergio Aguero who got injured in the game on Saturday against Crystal Palace. Pablo Zabaletta is yet to play a game this season due to his persisting injury. He too won’t feature in the game. Raheem Sterling and David Silva will return to starting lineup after the duo missed Saturday’s league game.
Juventus have not had much luck with injuries of late, following injuries to Sami Khedira, Kwadwo Asamoah and Claudio Marchisio. Giorgio Chiellini could make a much-needed return, but that will depend on whether Allegri decides upon a three or four-man defence away from home. Mandzukic could be knocking on the door to replace either Dybala or Alvaro Morata while Juan Cuadrado will also be seeking to present his boss with a selection headache going forward.
