Saina Mirza and Martina Hignis enters the quarter finals of US Open women’s with straight sets win in third round last night.

It was a dominating performance by the number 1 ranked women’s doubles pair who completely outclassed their opponents.

The top seeded Indo-Swiss pair eased past 13th ranked Dutch-Czech pair of Michella Krajeck and Barbora Strycova 6-3, 6-0 in a contest which lasted for 59 minutes.

In the first set the top seeds broke their rivals once and sent down 14 minutes as compared to 8 by Krajeck and Strycova to advantage in 33 minutes. The first set was won by Saina Mirza and Martina 6-3. In the first set Krajeck and Strycova tried to break the service but Saina Mirza and Martina Hignis proved too strong for the opponent.

 

Krajeck and Strycova were more even erratic in the second set and conceded six break points three of which were converted by Saina and Martina Hignis. With 9 unforced errors Krajeck and Strycova literally served the match on a platter for Saina and Martina Hignis who wrapped the second set in 26 minutes to enter into the quarter finals. In the second set Martina Hignis and Saina Mirza dominated the opponents and never allowed them back in the match.

In the quarter finals Martina and Saina Mirza will face off against Yuang Jan Chan and Hao Ching Chan of Chinese Taipei and hope these two can continue their performance in the quarter finals.
