BWF World Championship 2015: P Gadre/ Sikki Reddy through to the second round

P Gadre and N Sikki Reddy beat Herttrich/ Micheals in the first round of women’s doubles in three sets 16-21,21-15,21-14 at Jakarta just few moments ago. It was an excellent performance by Gadre/ Sikki Reddy who came back a game down and just played better badminton in the second and third game.

In the first set the German pair began off to a flying start taking 4-0 lead. The Indian pair of Sikki Reddy/ Gadre took 2 points. The German led 6-2. The Indian pair made a comeback and the reduced the marigin to 3 points. At the interval Micheals and Herttrich took a 11-8 lead. After the changeover the Indian pair tried to make a comeback but Micheals and Herttrich took the first game with ease 21-16.

In the second set both pairs started off to a good note equaling at 1-1. The German pair was leading 9-7 but Indian pair came back and leveled at 9-9. At the interval Sikki Reddy/ Gadre led 11-9.  After the interval both pairs took alternate points to equal at 13-13. Sikki Reddy/ Gadre played some excellent badminton and won 5 successive points to make 19-15. The Indian pair won the second set 21-15.

In the deciding set Gadre/ Sikki Reddy began well taking the first point. Both pairs were going neck to neck. The Indian pair took the lead for some time but German pair came back and equaled at 9-9. At the interval Sikki Reddy/ Gadre led 11-9.  After the interval the Indian pair did not allow the German pair to make a comeback and won the third set with ease at 21-14.
