Former Indian cricketers have lashed out at the comments made by ex-Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi regarding the Kashmir issue. The latter asked the United Nations (UN) and the other international bodies to intervene to end the violence in Kashmir.

Recently, Afridi expressed his anguish as over 20 people were killed in Jammu and Kashmir over the course of this weekend.

“Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self-determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other international bodies & why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?” Afridi tweeted.

The latest to lash out at Afridi is Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan. Taking to his twitter handle he wrote:

“Pehele khudke desh ki haalat sudharo. Apni soch apne paas rakho. Apne desh ka joh hum kar rahe hai woh acha hi hai aur aage jo karna hai woh humein ache se pata hai. Zyaada dimaag mat lagao (First improve the condition of your own country. Keep your thoughts to yourself. What we are doing for pur country is all good and we also know what to do in the future very well. Dot use your brain too much in our matters.”

Even the Indian skipper Virar Kohli took a dig at Afridi and slammed him for his comments.

“As an Indian, you want to express what is best for your nation and my interests are always for the benefit of our nation. If anything opposes it, I would never support it for sure,” Kohli was quoted as saying by ANI.

“But having said that, it’s a very personal choice for someone to comment on certain issues. Unless I have total knowledge of the issues and the intricacies of it I don’t engage in it but definitely your priority stays with your nation,” he added.

Former Indian World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev said that why are we even giving Afridi importance.

“Who is he? Why are we giving importance to him? We should not be giving importance to certain people,” he said.

Indian middle-order batsman Suresh Raina added that Kashmir is an ‘integral’ part of India.

“Kashmir is an integral part of India will remain so always. Kashmir is the pious land where my forefathers were born. I hope @SAfridiOfficial Bhai asks Pakistan Army to stop terrorism and proxy war in our Kashmir. We want peace, not bloodshed and violence,” he wrote.
