South Africa’s frontline spinner Imran Tahir is in doubt for the fourth ODI against Australia that will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 21st.
Imran Tahir bowled six overs in the 3rd ODI, which South Africa lost by 73 runs, before injuring his knee. He also didn’t come out to bat because of the same.
During an interview, South Africa’s ODI Captain AB de Villiers said:
“I think he sprained his knee a little bit. We’ll assess him over the next day and see what he’s like on Thursday night and make the call on the morning of the game.
“I’m not sure how serious it is.“
South Africa is already without the services of their part-time spin bowling all-rounder JP Duminy, who was ruled out for the series when he aggravated a long-standing knee problem during the T20 series against Australia. If Tahir is ruled out of the ODIs, then it’ll be a huge setback for the South African team as they are already 1-2 behind in the series and Tahir being a wicket-taker will give a huge blow to the team if he doesn’t participate in the remaining ODIs.
