The England Cricket team have dropped Steve Finn and Ball from the 2nd Test match to be played at Old Trafford from tomorrow onwards. Both Steve Finn and Ball did not have a great Test match at Lords. England have called Ben Stokes, James Anderson and Adil Rashid for the second Test match.
“We’re going to name a 12 — Steven Finn and Bally are missing out,” Cook told reporters at Old Trafford on Thursday.
“That means, obviously, Ben Stokes and Jimmy Anderson are back in – and Adil’s going to be in the 12, just depending on what happens to that wicket by tomorrow (Friday).”
England lost the first Test match at Lords by 75 runs and thus trail the four-match Test series 0-1. James Anderson and Ben Stokes will be making a comeback in the playing XI for the second test. Adil Rashid might have to wait for his debut test match. Cook also said that he has to see the wicket and depending on the wicket he will decide to go with 2 spinners and 2 fast bowlers, or 3 fast bowlers and 1 spinner.
In the first Test, Ball picked 1 wicket in the whole match while Steve Finn did not pick any wickets. With Steve Finn and Ball out of the squad, James Anderson and Stuart Broad will be a tough bowling pair to handle.
James Anderson and Ben Stokes were out of the first Test match due to an injury. With both of them coming back into the playing XI, England team’s chances will be bolstered.
