In a major development, Premier League’s surprise package Stoke City have struck a £12million agreement agreement with Inter Milan for the transfer of Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Swiss International recently joined the Serie A outfit from Bayern Munich. However, Italian media believes that Shaqiri has lost faith in the Inter Milan project and is looking to seek his way out of the club.
Liverpool were heavily linked with Shaqiri’s transfer but Stoke City have raced ahead of the Anfield side to agree a transfer fee with Inter Milan.
According to Di Marzio, Inter Milan have accepted a £12m (€17m) bid for Shaqiri, however Di Marzio also revealed that Stoke are yet to reach an agreement with the player which will prove to be a difficult task.
Shaqiri is eying a regular playing time so that he can prove himself ahead of Switzerland’s Euro 2016 campaign kicks-off. Premier League is following this transfer closely as Shaqiri on his day is good-a-winger a manager can hope to have in his line-up.
Stoke City have set high ambitions for 2015-16 season after impressive displays in Premier League for over 5 seasons.
In Mark Hughes, Stoke have an able manager who can bring out the bets from Xherdan Shaqiri, however without any European Football and global appeal, Stoke will have to pull of an amazing scoop if they are to convince Shqiri to join Britannia stadium this summer.
